EU Support

The project "Green destination in the valley of the upper Sana and Pliva" began implementation on 22.05.2020, which will develop a new eco-tourism and outdoor tourism destination along the route Via Dinarica with the aim of increasing the competitiveness of local tourism by creating new tourism packages and their promotion at the international level.

General objectives of the project: Contribution to the promotion of a common regional macro-tourism product - Via Dinarica Green Trail, providing the local community with new economic opportunities while preserving key natural resources.

Specific objectives: To develop a new ecotourism and outdoor destination along the Via Dinarica route by applying an integrated development approach that includes nature protection, digitalisation and a market-oriented management model.

The long-term development goal that this project seeks to achieve is the sustainability of our region by providing new employment opportunities and generating additional income. The project will include valorization of the landscape with the development of small-scale infrastructure at three micro locations (arrangement of the Korana canyon, Pecka climbing area and interactive playground in the village of Pecka) and GPS mapping of bicycle and hiking trails to connect functional tourist content and experiences in nature

The project is implemented by the Municipality of Mrkonjić Grad (as the leading implementer), together with partners, UG Center for the Environment, Advantis Consulting and Zepter Passport.

The total value of the project is 242,872.59 Euros and it will be implemented in the period from May 2020 to February 2022.

The project is being implemented in the municipalities: Mrkonjic Grad, Shipovo and Ribnik.

The end users are micro, small and medium enterprises and entrepreneurs, with a focus on young people and women living in rural areas.

With the aim of strengthening the BiH economy, the EU4Business project of the European Union encourages the development of entrepreneurship, export-oriented sectors, tourism and agriculture, as well as rural development. The project is worth 16.1 million euros, and is jointly funded by the European Union in the amount of 15 million euros in grants and the Federal Republic of Germany in the amount of 1.1 million euros. The project is jointly implemented by GIZ, ILO and UNDP, from April 2018 to March 2022.

EU4Business is part of the Local Development Strategy - Local Self-Government and Economic Development Program in BiH, supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) of the Federal Republic of Germany.
